SFIAC Wine Education
Campania Region Wine Tasting
Friday, November 13, 2026
7:00PM
San Francisco Italian Athletic Club
This holiday season, SFIAC Wine Education takes a journey to the very heart of southern Italian wine. Home to the cuisine of Napoli, beaches of Amalfi, volcanic fields of Flegrei and hills of Avellino, Campania is one wild and intoxicating place. It's wine history dates back to the Roman Empire, yet today Campanian wine often goes unnoticed in favor of Tuscany or Piedmont.
About the class
In this immersive tasting experience, sommelier Paul Robinson will reveal this incredible region through the lens of its wines. We will take a closer look at history and its bounty of ancient grapes, while we taste handpicked wines from Taurasi, Avellino, Taburno, Amalfi, Campi Flegrei, and Vesuvius. Join us at the table, where we discover both the benchmarks families and rising stars of Campanian wine today.
Price
Price: $100/per person (Open to All)
Includes: 8 wine tastings, antipasto, and interactive class about Campania region wines
ABOUT PAUL ROBINSON
Paul Robinson has been in the hospitality business for almost 20 years. He owns Bottivino, an Italian Wine, Education and Event business serving the Bay Area of California. Paul is a certified sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers and a member of the ruling council of the Cavalieri del Tartufo e Dei Vini di Alba.
Sommelier Note: The final line-up will be revealed in class, but expect to pour the following: whites like Fiano df’Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Falanghina from Flegrei, or perhaps a blend from the Amalfi coast, aromatic reds from Piedirosso, and fuller reds (Aglianico-based) from Taburno and Taurasi. I will be paying close attention to the wines Avellino and Taurasi, featuring historic producers and cru-level wines. - Paul
