About Amedeo Tommasini

Amedeo Robert Tommasini was a distinguished member of the Italian-American community in San Francisco, known for his prominence in the printing, design, and writing fields.

His deep connection to the city's Italian heritage is highlighted by his significant involvement with the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club (SFIAC), where he served as a Past President (1961-1962). Tommasini came to San Francisco at a young age, following a family tradition in printing that dated back to his great-great-grandfather, who was the Pope's printer. He later gained international recognition as the president of the International Association of Printinghouse Craftsman (1955), an organization of 17,000 printing executives worldwide, showcasing his contributions to his craft.

His selection for a bronze plaque on the San Francisco Little Italy Honor Walk in North Beach is intended to "immortalize and honor" his memory and emphasize the importance of his individual efforts in fostering the growth and development of the city's community.

About San Francisco Little Italy Honor Walk: Founded in 2023, the San Francisco Little Italy Honor Walk, Inc. (SFLIHW) celebrates, preserves, and enriches Italian-American heritage and culture in San Francisco's Little Italy, located in North Beach. Its mission is to honor the voices, struggles, and triumphs of those who shaped this vibrant community. The bronze plaques, situated on the sidewalks of North Beach, will form the San Francisco Little Italy Honor Walk, starting from the lively core of Washington Square, along Columbus Avenue and Broadway, and running along some adjacent streets.

All plaque unveilings will be open to the public, inviting community members to celebrate the remarkable legacies of these honorees.
